Sedona is compact, but there are still a few different areas to consider when booking your accommodations and it can have an impact on your trip. Here's the short version:
Uptown Sedona
This is the heart of Sedona — located at the intersection of Arizona 89A and 179, it's super walkable, packed with galleries and restaurants. It's an easy choice for first-timers and anyone who wants a short walk to dinner rather than a drive. The tradeoff is traffic and crowds, especially midday in high season (March–May and September–October).
West Sedona
More residential and spread out, West Sedona is where you'll find some of the best value in town — a mix of boutique hotels and chain properties along Highway 89A, most a short drive from trailheads and downtown. Here, you'll have easy access to trailheads and grocery stores. It's a smart pick if you want a quieter base without sacrificing easy access.
Village of Oak Creek
About ten minutes south of Uptown, this is where you'll find Sedona's full-service resorts, including the golf-adjacent properties near Bell Rock. It trades a little bit of that in-town walkability for more space — a great option for families or longer stays.
Oak Creek Canyon
Northeast of town toward Flagstaff, this is the most secluded, nature-forward area — think creekside cabins and canyon views, with a short drive into Uptown for dinner. Best for travelers prioritizing quiet and natural beauty over walkability.

Daily programming often includes yoga and guided meditation, and Rascal, the on-site restaurant, is a solid dinner option if you don't feel like leaving the property. It's centrally located in West Sedona, an easy short drive to trailheads and Uptown alike, and it consistently earns some of the strongest guest reviews of any hotel in town. We stayed here for a night on our honeymoon and enjoyed a couples massage during our stay — it was a lovely experience and the perfect balance to our outdoor activities.

How many nights should I stay in Sedona?
Two to three nights is a great place to start for first-time visitors. It's enough time to do a hike, explore Uptown or the Tlaquepaque Arts & Crafts Village and enjoy a nice meal. You could easily spend a week here if you want to do more hiking and explore multiple areas without feeling rushed.
Do Sedona hotels charge resort fees?
