Where to Stay in Cabo San Lucas: My Experience
I first visited Cabo San Lucas in 2018 - I loved it so much I’ve been back 5 times since. On that first visit, we split our time staying walking distance to the marina on the cusp of the Pedregal neighborhood as well as time in the Tourist Corridor. In subsequent trips, we’ve stayed in other locations - all with their own pros and cons.
The Pedregal area was one of our favorite stays - we loved how walkable that specific villa was and the quiet, peaceful reprieve it provided to the lively Cabo San Lucas atmosphere. For those that want to be in the heart of the action, I would recommend selecting accommodations in Cabo San Lucas proper.
I've visited Cabo San Lucas six times since 2018 and have personal experience with several areas of town, including the Pedregal neighborhood. The hotel picks below are a mix of places I have direct familiarity with and properties I'd recommend to clients based on their reputation, awards, and consistent traveler feedback. As always, many of these properties offer exclusive perks when booked through a travel advisor — complimentary upgrades, resort credits, early check-in and more. Get in touch to learn more.
I’ve included direct booking links here for your convenience BUT, many of these properties offer perks exclusively to bookings made on your behalf by a travel advisor - think complimentary room upgrades, complimentary breakfast, resort credits, early check-in/late check-out.
Understanding Los Cabos
Before we dig in, I think it’s helpful to have a better understanding of the different areas of Los Cabos. The naming conventions for all of the destinations in Baja California are confusing enough to make your head spin. Here’s a breakdown to help you get your bearings:
Los Cabos: This refers to the overarching region.
Cabo San Lucas: Also known as just “Cabo,” the more popular tourist destination known for the ‘El Arco’ arch, bars, clubs and restaurants lining a picturesque marina.
San José del Cabo: Also referred to as “San José,” the historic, artsy town.
Tourist Corridor: The stretch along the coast and Hwy 1 between Cabo San Lucas and San José. This area is lined with resorts and golf courses.
Where to Stay in Cabo San Lucas
Now that you have your bearings… we’re focus in on Cabo San Lucas. You’ll find that the majority of accommodations in Cabo San Lucas are large resorts, including all-inclusive’s, with lots of amenities. I’ve broken out my top hotel & resort picks into smaller neighborhoods/areas to help you pick the best area for you.
Marina
Situated in the heart of Cabo San Lucas is the marina and nearby Medano Beach. For those looking to be in the heart of the action, this is the place to be. Tons of restaurants, shopping and clubs are right at your finger tips. One trade off for those staying in the marina is that while you may have views of the Sea of Cortez, there will not be swimmable beaches within the resort.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Marina Fiesta
Marina Fiesta offers guests comfortable suites with marina views in the heart of Cabo San Lucas. Inspired by the marina views, their rooms and suites feature nautical decor blended with traditional Mexican touches.
While there is no direct beach access, guests will enjoy an outdoor pool just steps away from Cabos’s iconic marina and Medano Beach appoximately an 8 minute walk away.
⭐️⭐️⭐️ Collection O Casa Bella Hotel Boutique
If you want your vacation to feel like you area guest invited into someones home, Casa Bella is it. This hacienda style hotel evokes a colonial Mexican atmosphere - like you are staying at your Mexican uncle’s mansion just blocks away from Cabo’s marina.
This boutique hotel features just 14 rooms with traditional Mexican accents. Additional amenities include a small pool and spa - but this hotel really shines for it’s small, intimate atmosphere. If you’re looking for a unique stay that is not a traditional resort, this would be my pick.
Medano Beach
Located directly adjacent to Cabo San Lucas’ world famous marina, Medano Beach resorts offer the same convenient location with the added bonus of a swimmable beach. This is a high energy area with beach clubs, day parties, water sports rentals and views of Cabo San Lucas’ iconic arch.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Bahia Hotel & Beach House
Nominated for Travel & Leisure’s 2026 Worlds Best Hotels, the 89 design forward rooms and suites at Bahia, feature private terraces, hand cut tiles, organic woods and locally handcrafted details highlighting the textures and tones of Baja. Select suites include private hot tubs.
White umbrellas line the pool and Bahia’s SUR Beach House - reminiscent of a Mediterranean beach club. Amenities and experiences include paddle boarding sessions, curated adventures, tequila tastings, dedicated tours to Lands End departing from SUR and more.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ ME Cabo by Meliá
ME Cabo by Meliá is a 5-Star adults only, high energy resort featuring live djs and entertainment in a modern, stylish settings. Overlooking the iconic El Arco, and set right on swimmable Medano Beach, the resort combines modern design, music and vibrant social spaces to create a high energy atmosphere both day and night.
The rooms at ME Cabo are sleek and modern with views of desert gardens and the Sea of Cortez. Select rooms offer swim-up access, private terraces and ‘social hot tubs.’ Amenities include personalized butler service, spa, an on site beach club, and rooftop dining. For those who thrive in a party that never stops, ME Cabo is the perfect option.
Pedregal /Lands End
Sometimes referred to the Beverly Hills of Cabo, Pedregal is perched on the rocky mountain overlooking the Cabo marina and the Pacific Ocean. Visitors will find high-end villas, private homes and luxury resorts, along cobblestone streets, tucked amongst dramatic cliffs.
Having stayed in the Pedregal area myself, I can confirm the tradeoff is real: it's one of the quietest, most private corners of Cabo San Lucas while still being a short walk or quick Uber from the marina energy. If that balance is what you're after, this neighborhood is worth prioritizing over a marina-front location.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Waldorf Astoria Los Cabos Pedregal
Perched along the cliffs of the Pedregal neighborhood, the 5-Star Waldorf Astoria is perhaps the most luxurious option for travelers to Cabo San Lucas. Your exclusive experience starts the moment you drive through the private Dos Mares Tunnel.
Amenities include a stunning Forbes 5 Star signature spa, 3 pools, on-site dining and kids club. The beach here is not swimmable, but you can take in the ocean views from the beautiful infinity pool.
The Waldorf is a wonderful option for families and groups with room types ranging from beachfront luxury suites to private homes. Every accommodation at the Waldorf Astoria features its own private plunge pool, terrace, Pacific Ocean views, a personal concierge and butler team. The rooms embrace sophisticated Mexican design and indoor/outdoor living.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Solmar Resort
The Solmar resort is tucked amongst the granite cliff hillside, hiding it from the sights and sounds of rowdy Cabo San Lucas, yet it is just a 10 minute walk away. This all-inclusive resort is perfect for couples and families who are looking for easy access to everything Cabo San Lucas has to offer, with a relaxing, quiet place to escape.
Room options include studios with kitchens, suites and family rooms. Each room features a private balcony or terrace, a contemporary take on traditional Mexican decor.
I don’t typically recommend all-inclusive in Los Cabos since the food scene is outstanding, but if that’s you’re preference, Solmar is a great option.
Diamante
Diamante is located on the west coast of the Baja Peninsula overlooking the Pacific Ocean. It is an exclusive beachfront community known for luxurious residential options luxury hotels, world-class golf (including courses designed by Tiger Woods). It’s location on the Pacific side offers a secluded setting for vacationers while still being close to downtown Cabo San Lucas.

What should I consider when choosing a luxury hotel in Cabo San Lucas?
It really depends on the type of trip you're taking. Couples and honeymooners tend to prioritize intimate properties with ocean views and spa access, while families need swimmable beaches and plenty of on-site activities to keep everyone happy. One thing worth knowing about Cabo San Lucas specifically — most of its beaches have strong surf and aren't safe for swimming, so if getting in the ocean is a priority, look for hotels on Medano Beach or plan day trips to the protected bays along the Tourist Corridor. And if dining out matters to you, a room-only rate gives you the flexibility to explore the marina restaurants without feeling tied to one resort.

Is Cabo San Lucas worth visiting?
Cabo San Lucas is one of my favorite spots in Mexico. I’m not big on the party scene these days, but it still has so much to offer. My favorite experiences and memories are around incredible meals, watching whales breach off shore and enjoying the lively sea lions in the marina.
The unique landscape of the desert cliffs meeting the ocean give Cabo the coolest vibe and it also means that just about any time of year you visit you’re going to have incredible weather.
Flying to Cabo San Lucas
The nearest airport to Cabo San Lucas is Los Cabos International Airport (SJD). There are many direct flights from cities throughout the USA, Canada and Mexico.
Upon arrival, after you have cleared customs, proceed directly outside to meet your transportation provider and do not speak to any of the salesmen inside the airport.
Airport Transfers
🚐 Shuttle: If you do not plan to rent a car, a shuttle is the most affordable and efficient option for airport transfers. We always utilize Cabo Airport Shuttle for our transfers to and from SJD. They offer private or shared shuttle service. For private shuttles, there is also an option to add a 30 minute grocery store stop on the way. Book this in advance!
🚕 Uber / Taxi: Uber is frankly a bit convoluted at the SJD airport as they are not permitted to pick up riders from the arrivals area. While technically an option, you will have to while a while out of the terminal to meet your driver. In this case, a taxi is the better option. It will be more expensive than a shuttle. If you do opt to utilize a taxi, coordinate and agree to a price for your trip at an official desk before departing.
🚗 Rental Car: If you are renting a car, your rental agency will pick you up via a shuttle service to take you to their off-site lot. From there you can drive yourself to Cabo San Lucas.
Getting Around Cabo San Lucas
Whether or not you need a rental car in Cabo San Lucas really just depends on the type of vacation you plan to have.
If you are more of a flop-and-drop traveler who only plans to leave the resort for a few meals and maybe a day of shopping, you can definitely get by without one, especially if you select a resort or hotel that is located in close proximity to the marina. In this case, Uber is the best way to get to & from your resort and can also be reliable option for some further afield locations like San Jose del Cabo or the quieter beached.
Keep in mind that rush hour traffic is a thing in Mexico too and plan accordingly and plan ahead for traffic so you don’t miss any reservations!
If you plan to do a broader Baja road trip or some day trips to places like Todos Santos, I would highly recommend renting a car.
