Where to Stay in Los Cabos Tourist Corridor; My Top Hotels
The Tourist Corridor is the roughly 20-mile stretch of coastline along Highway 1 connecting Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo — and it's where I personally base myself when I visit Los Cabos. Here's why: the big luxury resorts along this stretch offer everything you'd want from a world-class beach property, while still putting you within easy access of both San José del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas.
I've been visiting Los Cabos since 2018 and have stayed in multiple properties along the Corridor — including the Westin Los Cabos and the Hilton Los Cabos, which remain two of my personal favorites. My husband has stayed at Grand Velas. Several others on this list I recommend regularly to clients as a Virtuoso-affiliated travel advisor, with access to exclusive perks you simply can't book on your own.
If you're still deciding whether the Corridor is right for you versus Cabo San Lucas or San José del Cabo, check out my full comparison guide first. If you've already landed here — let's get into it.

El Arco
Understanding Los Cabos
Before we dig in, a quick orientation — because the naming conventions in Baja California are, well, confusing.
Los Cabos refers to the overarching region at the southern tip of the Baja California Sur peninsula.
Cabo San Lucas — also known as just "Cabo" — is the livelier western town, known for El Arco, the marina, deep sea fishing and nightlife.
San José del Cabo — also known as "San José" — is the quieter, artsy eastern town with cobblestone streets, galleries and the best food in the region.
The Tourist Corridor is the stretch of coastline and Highway 1 between the two towns, home to the majority of Los Cabos' large luxury resorts and championship golf courses.
Swimmable Beach Access in the Corridor
One thing worth knowing before you fall in love with a property: most resorts along the Tourist Corridor do not have swimmable beaches. The Pacific currents along this stretch of coastline make ocean swimming unsafe at the majority of properties. The stretch of coastline along the Corridor — sometimes called the Playa Hotelera — is one of the most scenic in all of Los Cabos, even where swimming isn't advisable. What you're getting is a stunning beachfront setting, and the pool is the primary water experience at most Los Cabos Corridor hotels. The Hilton Los Cabos is a notable exception.
A Note on These Recommendations
Several properties on this list I've stayed at personally, and others I know well through my work as a Fora travel advisor — whether through client feedback, site visits, or advisor resources. If you want help booking any of these properties (including Virtuoso perks where available), get in touch.
Driving Distances: You may be looking at these and thinking 'the math isn't mathing' for a 20 mile stretch of road. These are based on actual Google Maps driving directions. Hwy 1 is a divided highway meaning you may have to go the opposite way of your destination to reach the next turn around point to safely head in the correct direction.
I've included direct booking links here for your convenience, but many of these properties offer perks exclusively available through a travel advisor — think complimentary room upgrades, resort credits, complimentary breakfast, early check-in and late check-out.
Where to Stay in the Tourist Corridor: Closer to San José del Cabo
Properties on the eastern end of the Corridor give you the full resort experience with the added benefit of proximity to San José's El Centro — meaning the Thursday night art walk, Doña Nina's tamales, and farm-to-table dining at Flora Farms or Acre are a quick drive rather than a commitment. Most Corridor resorts are self-contained enough that restaurants, pools, spa, and beach are all within a short walk of your room — but this end of the Corridor gives you the best of both worlds.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The Westin Los Cabos Resort, Villas & Spa
~13 miles from San José del Cabo | ~15 miles from Cabo San Lucas
The Westin Los Cabos is one of my personal favorites along the Corridor — and one of the best options for families or groups looking for flexible accommodations. The studio and multi-bedroom villa units include full kitchenettes, which makes a real difference on longer trips or with kids in tow. Grabbing groceries and having breakfast on your own balcony is one of those small things that I love about staying here.
Beyond the accommodations, the Westin delivers on resort amenities: a spa, multiple pools, daily activities, entertainment, and a kids club that lets parents actually exhale. The beach here is not swimmable, but the pool more than compensates. Two things I feel are worth noting - the second bedroom in the 2-bedroom units has zero natural light. This could be great for some, and a nightmare for other. Second, the main restaurants (Cocina Casera & La Cantina Sports Bar) on site is just ok (this does not apply to lunch by the pool!)- there's so much great dining in Cabo that I would venture off the resort for dinner and skip this unless you're just looking for convenience after a long travel day.
Pro tip: There is a market on site which is great for spur of the moment purchases, but I would recommend taking a cab to Fresko La Comer Palmilla for a full grocery store to stock up for the week. Bigger selection, better prices.
Best for: Families, groups, longer stays, anyone who wants villa-style space with full resort amenities.
⭐⭐⭐ Hampton Inn & Suites ~7 miles from San Jose del Cabo | ~19 miles from Cabo San Lucas
Located in the Koral Center, Hampton Inn & Suites is not a beachfront property but it does feature a rooftop pool and whirlpool with views of Los Cabos' desert terrain and the Sea of Cortez beyond.
While they don't have their own restaurants in the hotel, you have prime access to El Merkado, a food hall concept with everything from a traditional parilla (grill) to sushi. If you're looking for no frills, just a place to sleep while you spend your days exploring, this is a great alternative to the luxury resorts.
Best for: Budget conscious travelers looking for a no frills option
Where to Stay in the Tourist Corridor: The Middle
The heart of the Corridor is where you'll find some of the most celebrated resort properties in all of Los Cabos — prime beachfront positioning, world-class spas, and the most robust golf access in the region.
Courtesy of Las Ventanas al Paríso
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Las Ventanas al Paraíso, A Rosewood Resort
~10 miles from San José del Cabo | ~13 miles from Cabo San Lucas
2 Michelin Key | Forbes 5-Star
Las Ventanas al Paraiso is one of those properties that doesn't need much of an introduction — it's been the benchmark for luxury in Los Cabos since it opened in 1997, and it still earns that reputation. Eighty-four white stucco suites and villas are arranged around a courtyard of native plants and infinity pools, all overlooking the Sea of Cortez, and the smallest room comes in at over 900 square feet. Every room includes dedicated 24/7 butler service, a private terrace with Sea of Cortez views, a wood or gas burning fireplace, and a telescope for whale watching and stargazing. Villas step it up further with private infinity pools and outdoor showers.
The service is what sets Las Ventanas apart. Thoughtful touches are everywhere — welcome margaritas, complimentary in-room tequila, on-demand gourmet coffee and tea service, and shaded hammocks for naps to name a few. Dining spans five restaurants including Arbol, which focuses on Asian-inspired coastal cuisine, and La Botica, a Prohibition-era speakeasy bar. The resort also sits adjacent to an 18-hole Robert Trent Jones II Championship Golf Course.
Best for: Couples, honeymoons, milestone trips, anyone who wants the best of the best in Los Cabos.
Sunrise at Hilton Los Cabos
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Hilton Los Cabos Beach & Golf Resort
~10 miles from San José del Cabo (~20 min) | ~13 miles from Cabo San Lucas (~15–20 min)
The Hilton Los Cabos holds a distinction that is rare along the Corridor: a swimmable beach. Most properties along this stretch of coastline are stunning beachfront settings where ocean swimming simply isn't safe due to the currents — the Hilton is one of the few exceptions.
I've stayed here personally, and that beach access combined with the large infinity pools and waterslides makes it an especially strong choice for families with kids. Beyond the beach, the property delivers on everything you'd expect: multiple dining options, a spa, and easy access to golf. The oceanfront views here are among the best along the Corridor, the sunrise over the rocky outcroppings rivals any other I've ever seen. The Hilton sits close enough to the middle that both San José and Cabo San Lucas are reasonable drives.
Best for: Families with kids, anyone who can't live without a swimmable beach, travelers who want a well-rounded resort at a more accessible price point than the ultra-luxury properties.
Grand Velas
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Grand Velas Los Cabos
~10 miles from San José del Cabo (~20 min) | ~13 miles from Cabo San Lucas (~20 min)
Forbes 5-Star
If all-inclusive is what you're after, Grand Velas (a Forbes 5 Star Resort) is the standard by which all-inclusive resorts in Los Cabos should be measured. My husband stayed here and came back with zero complaints — which, for an all-inclusive, says something. Grand Velas offers both an all-ages resort and an adults-only Boutique Hotel section, so it works whether you're traveling as a couple or with family.
The food program here goes well beyond the standard all-inclusive buffet — multiple specialty restaurants with culinary ambition, showcasing the best of Mexican cuisine, are all included in the rate. Throw in the luxurious spa, the pools, the service level, paired with the beachfront setting, and you understand why this property consistently earns the awards it does. My husband couldn't stop going on about how wonderful the spa and personalized butler service was.
I don't typically push all-inclusive in Los Cabos given how extraordinary the independent restaurant scene is — but Grand Velas is the exception I make without hesitation.
Best for: Travelers who want all-inclusive done right, couples looking for an adults-only option (Boutique Hotel section), families who want everything handled.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Chileno Bay Resort & Residences, Auberge Resorts Collection
~12 miles from San José del Cabo (~15–20 min) | ~11 miles from Cabo San Lucas (~20 min)
2 Michelin Key | Forbes 5-Star
Chileno Bay sits on one of the most coveted stretches of coastline in the Corridor — and it benefits from something unusual for this area: calm, swimmable water at Chileno Bay, one of the best snorkeling spots in all of Los Cabos. The beach here is protected, the water is clear, and the marine life is exceptional.
The resort itself reflects the understated, design-forward aesthetic of the Auberge Resorts collection — casual luxury, beautifully executed, with a sense of place that feels specific to Baja rather than generic resort-anywhere. Private pools are available in select accommodations, the spa is outstanding, and the overall atmosphere skews more intimate than some of the larger properties along the Corridor.
Best for: Couples, snorkelers and water sports enthusiasts, travelers who want a more intimate resort feel with Auberge's signature design aesthetic.
Courtesy of Montage Los Cabos
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Montage Los Cabos
~14 miles from San José del Cabo (~20 min) | ~8 miles from Cabo San Lucas (~20–25 min)
2 Michelin Key | Forbes 5-Star
If there is one property in the Corridor that earns the "no compromises" designation, it's Montage Los Cabos. Perched on a stunning stretch of coastline at Santa Maria Bay, this Forbes 5-Star, Michelin-recognized resort delivers the kind of world-class amenities and attention to detail that justifies every superlative thrown at it.
The design draws from the natural beauty of the Baja desert — warm stone, natural wood, and open-air architecture that blurs the line between indoors and out. A large swimming pool cascades toward the ocean alongside multiple smaller plunge pools, the spa is exceptional, and the fine dining program is excellent. Families will appreciate the Paintbox kids club; couples will appreciate everything else. An added bonus? Its location on Santa Maria Bay means walk-in access to swimming, snorkeling and even scuba diving.
Best for: Luxury travelers who want the very best, families who want five-star service with kid-friendly amenities, swimmable beach.
Where to Stay in the Tourist Corridor: Closer to Cabo San Lucas
Properties on the western end of the Corridor keep you closer to the Cabo San Lucas marina, El Arco, and the livelier end of the Los Cabos dining and entertainment scene — while still offering the full resort experience of the Corridor.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Esperanza, Auberge Resorts Collection
~17 miles from San José del Cabo | ~6 miles from Cabo San Lucas
2 Michelin Key | Forbes 5-Star
Esperanza is one of the most intimate and design-forward luxury resorts in Los Cabos — a smaller, more secluded property with 57 ocean view casitas and suites and 60 luxurious villas that prioritize experience over scale.
Perched on a rocky clifftop on the Cabo end of the Corridor, the oceanfront views here are extraordinary: sweeping Pacific coastline framed by desert cliffs, and Lands End in the distance. Select suites include private hot tubs and plunge pools overlooking the Pacific. The spa at Esperanza has a devoted following of its own — an open-air, cliffside experience that is one of the best in Baja. Dining is intimate and excellent. This is a property best suited to couples, honeymooners, and travelers who prefer a quieter, more curated experience over a massive resort.
Best for: Couples, honeymooners, spa enthusiasts, travelers who want an intimate luxury experience
Courtesy of The Cape
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The Cape, a Thompson Hotel
~18 miles from San José del Cabo (~25–30 min) | ~6 miles from Cabo San Lucas (~10 min)
1 Michelin Key | Forbes 4-Star
The Cape features arguably the best views of all the Corridor hotels -- located at the Cabo end of the Corridor, the rooftop infinity pool looks directly out over El Arco and Land's End.
The aesthetic here is modern and minimal — clean lines, natural materials, and an overall vibe that skews more boutique hotel than mega-resort. The food and beverage program punches above its weight, anchored by Manta restaurant.
Rooms feature private terraces with views of the Sea of Cortez, hanging day beds, deep soaking tubs and in some cases private plunge pools. This is the right call for couples and honeymooners who want something visually distinctive and a little more intimate, while still being positioned close enough to the Cabo San Lucas marina to make the most of the fishing, El Arco, and the culinary hot spots nearby. While not strictly adults-only, it is certainly more of an 'adult-vibe' resort.
Best for: Couples and honeymooners who prioritize design and views, travelers who want a boutique feel with easy access to Cabo San Lucas.
What to Do Beyond the Resort
The Los Cabos Tourist Corridor isn't just a place to check into a resort and never leave — though you absolutely could. The outdoor activities available from any Corridor property are worth exploring: water activities like snorkeling and kayaking at Chileno Bay, deep sea fishing charters departing from the Cabo marina, ATV tours through the desert, and whale watching from December through March. Golf lovers are especially well-served, with multiple championship courses lining the Corridor including a Jack Nicklaus-designed course at Palmilla just minutes from the San José end. For culinary hot spots and gourmet restaurants showcasing the best of Mexican cuisine, San José del Cabo's farm-to-table scene is a short drive from any Corridor property. The easy access to both towns is one of the Corridor's best selling points — and one of the main reasons I keep coming back to this stretch of coastline.
FAQs About the Best Hotels in the Los Cabos Tourist Corridor
What is the best luxury hotel in the Los Cabos Tourist Corridor?
It depends on what you're optimizing for. For sheer five-star grandeur and world-class amenities, Montage Los Cabos is hard to beat. For the ultimate in personalized luxury service, Las Ventanas al Paraiso. For an intimate, design-forward experience, Esperanza or The Cape. For the best beach and snorkeling access, Chileno Bay. For families, the Hilton Los Cabos with its swimmable beach, or the Westin with villa-style accommodations and full kitchens.
Do Corridor resorts have swimmable beaches?
Most do not. The Pacific currents along the majority of the Corridor make ocean swimming unsafe at most properties. The Hilton Los Cabos and Chileno Bay are the notable exceptions. At most resorts, the pool is the primary water experience — and the pools at all of these resorts offer incredible ocean views.
Is the Tourist Corridor far from Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo?
No — the Corridor connects the two towns along a roughly 20-mile stretch of Highway 1. Depending on where your resort sits, you're looking at 10–30 minutes to either town by car. Staying on the San José end of the Corridor puts you closest to El Centro, the art walk, and the farm-to-table restaurant scene. Staying on the Cabo end keeps you closest to the marina, El Arco, and deep sea fishing charters.
What is the best time to visit the Los Cabos Tourist Corridor?
The cool season (December–March) is high season in Los Cabos for good reason — daytime highs in the low 80s, virtually no rain, and prime whale watching in the waters just offshore. February through April is my personal sweet spot: all the best weather, but fewer tourists than the peak holiday weeks. The summer months (June–October) bring heat and humidity but also lower rates and a quieter resort experience — a good option for budget-conscious travelers who don't mind the heat.
Flying into Los Cabos
The nearest airport is Los Cabos International Airport (SJD), approximately 20–40 minutes from most Corridor properties depending on location. There are many direct flights from cities throughout the USA, Canada and Mexico.
Pro Tip: Upon arrival, after you have cleared customs, proceed directly outside to meet your transportation provider and do not speak to any of the salespeople inside the airport.
Airport Transfers
🚐 Shuttle: The most affordable and efficient option. We always use Cabo Airport Shuttle for transfers to and from SJD — private or shared options, with the ability to add a grocery stop on the way. Book this in advance.
🚕 Uber / Taxi: Uber cannot pick up from the arrivals area at SJD, so a taxi is the more practical option if you haven't arranged a shuttle. Agree on a price at an official desk before departing.
🚗 Rental Car: Your rental agency will shuttle you to their off-site lot. Worth considering if you plan to explore beyond the Corridor — day trips to Todos Santos or the East Cape are much easier with your own car.
Getting Around the Tourist Corridor
A rental car is not strictly necessary if you plan to primarily stay resort-based, but it makes a real difference if you want to do day trips to other parts of the Baja. Uber is reliable throughout the Corridor and works well for venturing to San Jose del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas. Rush hour traffic on Highway 1 is real — plan ahead if you have dinner reservations.
Is the Tourist Corridor Safe?
Los Cabos is generally considered a safe tourist destination. As of early 2026, the region is rated at Level 2 (Exercise Increased Caution) by the U.S. State Department — comparable to many European destinations. Stay aware of your surroundings and exercise the same common-sense precautions you would in any major city.
